DISTANCE runner Ashley Pettit’s won the Youth Achievement (Boys) category at the 2012 Ely Standard Sports Awards.
In recent months Ashley has won the Cambridgeshire County Cross Country Championships for his age group and has represented Cambridgeshire at the National Cross Country Championships.
The judges also recognised his 13th place finish at the New Year’s Eve 10k. Against a high class field Ashley finished as first Junior and his time of 35:06mins was a new Junior Club Record by a substantial distance.
Alison Rich, HR Manager for the Ely Standard’s parent company Archant Herts and Cambs, presented Ashley with his trophy.
FINALISTS:
Freddie Upton - Has come through the ranks of the hockey club and broken into the men’s 1st team this season thanks to his work ethic, commitment and natural ability.
Angus Pate - Has made great improvement in the 2011 season in cricket, winning the bowling award for the 1X with Witcham CC in Division 1.
