ELY Artistic Rollerskating Club came away with an impressive medal haul and some excellent results in the recent national competition held at Newton Aycliffe, near Middlesbrough.

In the novice figures event, Rachel Hobbs and Chloe Thompson won gold and bronze respectively, with Hannah Walkley fifth, Emma Thompson eighth, Megan Snooks 15th and Zoe King 23rd.

In the novice free competition, the girls all performed well but finished outside the medals.

In the preliminary figures event, Nancy Allen and Ellis Hennebry won gold and silver medals respectively and Nancy Allen also won a silver medal in the preliminary combined event.

In the Bronze figures event, Rachel Housden and Fiona Cox won gold and silver medals respectively and in the combined event Rachel and Fiona also won gold and silver medals.

Many of the club skaters, pictured, are now preparing for the national championships where they hope to do as well as they have done at Newton Aycliffe.

The skaters train several times at week at various local sports centres, including the Paradise Centre in Ely.
