Ely City Golf Club welcomed its new captains on Saturday at the annual ‘drive-in’.
The event heralds the arrival of the club’s four new captains while signifying the start of the club’s golfing calendar.
Men’s captain for this year is Dr Dave Woods, Binnie Bridgeman is ladies’ captain, Ashley Sizer takes on the role of junior captain and Roger Day will be senior’s captain.
The nominated charities to benefit from charitable activities undertaken by the captains this year are the East Anglian Air Ambulance and Cancer Research
On Saturday morning, each drove off from the first tee in turn, announced by their vice captains respectively.
The captains’ year is set to be a busy one with each one invited to play in all club matches, officiate at club competitions and prize givings and getting involved in penty of fund-raising activities.
The day was rounded off with the Captains’ Dinner Dance, with about 120 members and partners in attendance.
