TWO goals from Andy Furnell, against an under-strength Mildenhall, helped Soham secure a place in the third round.
Mildenhall had several injuries and took the opportunity to give some youngsters the experience of playing a competitive match against their local rivals on Tuesday night.
Soham took lead after 30 minutes when Furnell fired in a penalty after a hand-ball.
The visitors got on top in a 15-minute period before half-time and came close when Neal Docking rattled the crossbar.
Rangers were by far the better side in the second half. Furnell scored from close-range, connecting well with Aaron Rutter's cross, to extend Soham's lead before Coren Hardy scored his first goal for Mildenhall, 10 minutes from time, with a classy finish in the penalty area after a cross from the left.
- Soham's next match is at home against King's Lynn Reserves in the league on Saturday.
- Mildenhall play Broxbourne away in the FA Vase on Saturday.
