Robbie Mason is still without a win as Soham Town Rangers manager after AFC Hornchurch condemned the Greens to their ninth defeat in 12 Ryman North Division Encounters.

Jed Chouman’s curling effort after an hour made the difference as the Greens’ winless run - which began in December last year - was extended to a twelfth game.

Defender and assistant manager Lloyd Groves returned to the Greens fold for the first time in 13 weeks and striker Jaydon Charles made his first start for the club since signing from Tilbury, but neither could prevent their side from sinking to a second straight league defeat.

The Greens, who sit four points off the bottom three, will look for a first three points since December 3 when they welcome basement boys, Great Wakering Rovers, to Julius Martin Lane on Saturday (3pm).

The Essex outfit are eight points adrift at the bottom of the standings and have not won a league match since December 10.
