SATURDAY saw the last under-13 matches of the season for Ely and it proved to be a bad day. With both teams missing players they each went on to lose all their games at the weekend, the first time this has happened all season.
In the First Division played at Soham, Ely faced the might of King's Lynn. With the team playing well they were only 2-1 down at half-time. This changed in the seond half as Kings Lynn pulled away to run out 4-1 winners.
They faced Peterborough next and this too proved to be a hard game. Sam Norton managed to score four goals for Ely, however Peterborough managed to double that tally to win the match 8-4.
Facing Bury in the last game, Ely were confident of turning round their fortunes. However the poor run continued, with Bury winning 5-3. Ely scorers were Emma Gillett and Sam Norton (2).
Ely II were playing at Burwell, and faced EC Select in their first match. A tight first half saw Ely concede a goal just before halftime. Although chances were created, none were scored but EC did put away their chances to finish as 4-0 winners.
Norwich came next and a change in fortunes. For the first time this season, Ely II were ahead at half-time. With some good goalkeeping from Kasia Parfitt to keep Norwich at bay the score was 1-0 courtesy of a goal from Sam Cornwell. Ely were to curse their luck as they could not put away their chances and eventually lost 4-2 with James Cox scoring their second.

Letchworth were their last opponents and Ely again could not score. With some good all-round team effort the score was only 3-0 at halftime. Tiredness began to creep in and eventually they conceded goals along with three in three minutes to lose 10-0.
A moral victory for Ely II was the fact this was the lowest goal tally against them in a tournament.
A good day for the Jameses as James Bayes and James Cox were named as players of the day.
