Mildenhall Fen Tigers captain Lee Complin hopes he can pass on some of his experience in speedway to help his team to National Development League [NDL] success.

Complin, whose comeback to the sport following a near fatal road crash in 2008 made national headlines, will lead the team after making several guest appearances for the club last season.

And he has already been impressed with how well the team has bonded

“I can pass on my experience but I think as riders, whether long established or newer to the sport, I’ll be giving them what I know and they will be giving me what they know,” said Complin.

“In speedway no matter how long you’ve ridden, you are always learning and it doesn’t matter how old you are really.”

Complin, who also rode for Armadale Devils last season, will skipper Mildenhall in their NDL opener against Kent Royals at West Row on April 2, 4pm.

The new-look Fen Tigers, who finished runners-up last season, will aim to regain the title they won in 2021 with some fresh faces.

These include 2021 GB youth champion Ben Trigger, George Congreve and William Richardson, who will compete in the NDL for the first time.

This weekend will be the first of four meetings with Kent in April in league and knockout cup fixtures.

And the sides’ first encounter will be Jason Gardner’s first as Mildenhall’s team manager.

“We have got, I think, a team that’s a perfect blend of youth and experience,” he said.

“I feel we got the golden ticket by securing the services of Lee as our skipper, with the NDL looking much stronger across the board this season with only the top two contesting the play-offs.

“We are determined as a team to bring success and silverware back to this club.”
