A much-changed Ely Tigers did not come away from Suffolk empty-handed despite losing their fifth league game this season.
Tigers gave a senior debut to former youth team player Dan Piper, while Jacob Muncey, Chris McGarth and John Hunt returned in their 20-13 loss at Thurston on November 12.
Ely were forced into an early change when Michael Reeves sustained a head injury, bringing in Muncey who found Nathan Brooks to score in their London 1 Eastern Counties League clash.
Thurston, who failed to capitalise on a penalty, eventually converted to lead and tightened their grip on the match with a try just before half-time to lead 13-5.
Joel Scott Paul’s penalty kick closed the gap to three points, but the hosts extended their advantage before being reduced to 14 men after a high tackle.
Luke Turner did score for Ely, who picked up a losing bonus point.
Ely do not return to league action until November 26 at home to Shelford II.
