A losing bonus point was the most Ely Tigers had to show for their efforts at the unbeaten league leaders.

Tigers fell behind early on in their 51-26 defeat at Saffron Walden on October 29.

Ater conceding two tries, Ely had aa route back into the game only for the referee to disallow a try.

Grant Storey got on the scoresheet, but Walden swiftly replied to increase their advantage.

Ely missed a clear chance to score through a quickly-taken penalty when the hosts were reduced to 14 men.

Missed tackles proved costly for the visitors after the break as Walden took further charge of this London 1 Eastern Counties League contest.

Tigers replacement Michael Reeves capped a positive display with a try, before Aaron Borland scored.

And as Walden still found time to break the 50-point barrier, Ryan Edgeworth crossed over to score with the visitors’ fourth try of the day.

Ely face Cantabrigian on November 5.
