ELY Rowing Club starlet Adam Hughes, continued to raise his stock with victory in the Junior 15 sculling event at the Bedford Star Regatta at the weekend.
Hughes, who lives in Downham Market, is one of the Ely club's most promising juniors and has impressed with a plethora of high profile results already this term.
At the fiercely contested regatta, Hughes faced stiff competition from other clubs in the region and had to come through two gruelling heats before reaching the final.
Racing over the 1,000m course in the centre of Bedford, Hughes achieved his fastest time of the day in the final, crossing the finishing line in a time of 3 minutes 58 seconds, seeing him well clear of his nearest rival.
Hughes, who was racing in a new single scull boat, donated to the club from the Foundation for Sports and Arts, said: "I'm absolutely delighted with this win,
"Not only was this my first win, but this is the boat's first victory too
