SOHAM ended their lamentable losing run in spectacular fashion at the weekend with an eight wicket victory over Burwell III.
Soham have been in indifferent form in recent weeks, with their batting proving a particular weak point, but there was no mistake on this occasion as they chased down 210 for a fine victory.
Sent in to the field first, the visitors toiled at great length to make the most of a flat track but struggled to make any real breakthroughs as Burwell forged ahead. Though there was little to cheer for the five-strong bowling attack, Wade Leaford's 1-28 proved the stand-out effort as Burwell closed on 210-5.
With plenty to do to reach their five-an-over target, Soham set about their task with gusto with Nick Mingay (58) and Peter Hinde (57) leading the way at the top of the order. Liam Eley (44) and Ian Bowman (24) secured the victory late on for Soham.
