SOHAM Town Rangers could find themselves in a new league next season following the expulsion of Rushden and Diamonds from the Conference.
Andy Furnell’s men looked set to remain in the Southern League Division 1 for 2011/12 after the FA turned down their request for a move to the Isthmian League but the expulsion of Rushden, reportedly for financial reasons, has caused a reshuffle across the football league.
The Greens could soon be moved sideways into the Ryman Division One North alongside teams including Essex-based Romford and Grays Athletic. The switch will be made possible because Aveley will be granted a reprieve from relegation from step three.
The move should involve less travelling for Greens fans, who faced punishing away days at Midlands sides Marlow and Rugby last term.
