Little Downham Cricket Club received a cheque for more than £100 from Ely supermarket Waitrose at the weekend.
The club were one of three good causes nominated to feature in the store’s Community Matters scheme, with shoppers voting for their preferred cause via green tokens.
The club amassed enough tokens to earn a cheque for £189 – which presented to them by Waitorse’s Lucy Acred.
The club’s David Cutforth said: “This will go towards the maintenance of equipment and facilities at the club and help sustain and grow the club over the next few years. “Although the season has just finished we would welcome new members and would like to hear from anyone interested in playing league cricket with a friendly socialable cricket club.”
