SUNDAY FOOTBALL ROUND-UP

CUP MATCHES

LTFC 1906 scraped through to the second round of the Shelford Energy Cup after beating local rivals Fox Burwell on penalties.

Tom Thatcher's opener for Burwell was cancelled out by Rob Scotney before half-time, and goals from Chris Wilson and Kevin Hills saw LTFC establish a healthy 3-1 advantage in the second half.

Lee Reed and Kevin Driver struck for the visitors to force extra-time and a 35-yard half-volley from Darren Lindsay seemed to have won the match for Burwell.

But, in the 120th minute, Kevin Hills broke from defence and played a neat one-two before prodding the ball into the corner to make it 4-4.

Reed, whose normal time spot-kick had been saved by the LTFC goalkeeper, was one of three Fox players who then fired wide of the target in the shoot-out, and although Burwell keeper Danny Johnson managed to stop two, it was the hosts who went through 3-2 on penalties.

In the same competition, Wilburton Albion lost 5-3 at home to Girton Eagles Reserves, and Little Downham United crashed 5-2 at home to Alma FC Reserves.

QPR Ely were also in action in the M & E Freeman Junior Cup First Round, but found Bottisham Sunday too good and lost 2-0.

LEAGUE MATCHES

IN the Senior Division, a clash between 2004/2005 champions Triple-S and 2005/2006 champions Tally Ho was a mis-match as the Fulbourn side ran out 9-3 winners.

Triple-S trailed 7-0 shortly after the interval, but gained some self-respect with goals from Wayne Bell, Scott Fretwell and Martin Corbett before Stephen Harvey departed with a serious knee injury.

In Division 1A, Ely Park Rangers gave an improved performance at Exning United, winning 5-0 with goals from Martin Blakeley (3), Adam Scott - a 20-yard half-volley - and Andrew Lee.

In Division 3A, Village Inn are up to second following their 9-2 demolition of Brinkley Red Lion.

Michael Ward and Mark Heading led the way with a hat-trick apiece. They were joined on the scoresheet by Tom Parrish (2) and Gary Freeman as the hosts romped to an easy victory.

Wicken Maids Head were hammered 6-0 by Cambridge Cosmos Reserves in Division 4A.
