Charlotte and Caroline Shropshire made history at the King's Junior School's annual cross-country races on Monday, when they became the first sisters to win in both the junior and senior girls' races.

Eleven-year-old Charlotte, who is in Year 7, won the race for girls in Years 7 and 8, and 10-year-old Caroline, a Year 5 pupil, won the race for girls in Year 6 and below.

Head of girls' games, Amanda Kippax, said: "Their wins were all the more impressive because they were running against girls a year older than themselves."

The senior boys' race was won by 12-year-old David Scott, a Year 7 pupil, and the junior boys' race by 10-year-old Timothy Stratton who is in Year 6.
