Members of Witchford Youth Group rolled up their sleeves this week to begin work on their very own club garden.

The group received a £500 grant from the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire, Aubrey Buxton, to put towards a project and they decided to use the funds to clear up and kit out their own garden space.

The group of about 14 youngsters meet at St Andrew’s Church Hall and it had been almost a decade since the garden had been cleared.

Group organiser, Mick Oliver, said: “They spent a lot of their half-term holiday clearing all the weeds, relayed the paving and taking away all of the rubbish. They did an excellent job.”
