A YOUTH accused of indecently exposing himself in New Barns Avenue in Ely has had his attendance order extended.

The boy, who is 17 and from Ely and cannot be named for legal reasons, is charged with indecent exposure.

Ely Youth Court heard on Thursday that a woman living in New Barns Avenue saw a group of youths congregating outside her home and decided to film them on her video camera as she suspected trouble. The boy was filmed exposing himself and made an offensive remark.

Matthew Bradbury, prosecuting, said the boy was a persistent young offender and said on the night of the alleged offence he had been drinking.

In mitigation, Michael Judkins, said the teenager had been seeking help for alcohol problems and had drunk a quantity of vodka and coke that evening. He couldn't remember why he exposed himself, describing it as "a momentary incident."

Magistrate Maggie Holling added an extra 12 hours to the boy's attendance centre order. He is coming to the end of a 30-hour order and learning how to manage alcohol.
