A group of youngsters have been recognised for their work in improving the relationship between the police and young people in East Cambridgeshire.
The police’s youth consultation panel, set up to give young people a voice in police matters, were praised in an hour-long ceremony at Centre E in Ely last Tuesday (1).
Highlights of the group’s year include visiting the county’s Police and Crime Commissioner, Jason Ablewhite, and receiving over £1,700 from the police to kick-start a new social media initiative.
Sgt Phil Priestley, who created the group, said: “The group has helped me to see things in a refreshing away again and to see young people as individuals.
“It’s helped me to realise the diversity that is out there and the pressure that young people have to cope with today. I’m very grateful to all of the group and proud to work with them.”
