ELY pupils have made sure more than 8,000 Christmas cards will not go to waste as part of a school recycling project. The scheme is one of a host of eco-friendly projects at Ely St Mary's Junior School. As part of the national Eco-Schools programme, the school elected an eco-action team in December, including an eco-warrior from each class, and one of the team's first challenges was asking staff and children to bring in Christmas cards to be recycled.
The school smashed its target of 2000 cards.
