A YOUNGER generation of people is applying for allotments in Ely as Britain becomes more interested in organic produce and home-grown food.
A report to Ely City Council from the allotments association shows that demand for allotments is increasing and younger people are applying for space.
Secretary of the group Linda Adams said: "The average age of allotment holders is coming down as more young families get involved; it's wonderful to see children enjoying helping their parents."
She said that several plots are being cultivated by women.
