A young Canadian woman helped Ely Hereward Rotary Club marshal the Ely Potato Race on her first visit to the city.
Having only arrived in the UK on September 23, Natalie Kauf - already wearing a jogging suit and trainers - was roped in to join one of the teams at last minute.
As the ladies race was short of a runner, event organiser Austen Dack persauded Natalie, who is spending a year at Cambridge University studying for a master’s degree in philosophy in development studies, to take part in the race.
