ELY man Gary Pearce who was ordered to carry out unpaid work for possessing an offensive weapon was back in court on Tuesday morning.

Pearce, 22, of New Barns Avenue, admitted two charges of failing to comply with a community order but told magistrates he regretted the decision.

"I wish I had got it all out of the way," he said. "I wish I had done it."

Ely Magistrates were told that the order was imposed on December 6 last year, but Pearce failed to attend on March 11 and March 18.

Chairman of the magistrates Hamish Ross, told him: "The breach of this order is a serious offence.

"You were given this order for charges which were not light by any means.

"When you have attended you have made good progress and you don't want to be back here again. You only have a few sessions left. You have got to keep your nose clean.

"We don't want to see you here and you don't want to be here. Don't let yourself down."

The court ordered Pearce to carry out an extra 14 hours of unpaid work.
