STRETHAM Community School held a range of events last week to celebrate books. It began on Monday when author Gillian McClure held workshops with each class and talked about how she illustrates her books, where she gets her ideas from and so on.
The classes rotated with teachers for a variety of subjects including excavating dinosaurs and making their own Where's Wally books. Parents read their favourite stories to the classes at the end of each day and a story swap took place.
The week culminated on Friday with a character parade when the children dressed up as their favourite fictional characters to celebrate World Book Day.
