SOHAM garage worker John Heaps celebrated his 50th birthday and asked guests to donate money to the East Anglian Air Ambulance rather than buy presents. The result was a fantastic £520 cheque for the charity. John works as a car preparation manager at Crown Garage where he has been employed since leaving school and he chose to present the cheque at his workplace last Thursday. He was joined by dealer principal, Andrew Harrison (left) as he officially handed over the money to Alison Horsley, area fund-raiser for the East Anglian Air Ambulance.
