A “long journey” for Haddenham councillor Bill Hunt is over as work has begun on installing a new £100,000 pedestrian crossing in the village.

Contractors began working on the crossing on the A1123 this week, with completion pencilled in for December 1.

“This has been a really long journey but safety along the whole of the A1123 really is a priority for me as a local county member,” Cllr Hunt said.

“The contractors and the County Council Highway managers have promised to have all the work finished for December 1, which is great news.”

The road will be closed from 7pm to 6am on Monday November 27 for resurfacing an on-street parking will not be permitted during the works.

A County Council spokesman said: “We would ask all residents to make sure vehicles are removed before the 7pm closure to ensure works are not held up.

“A letter notifying residents within the works area will be sent this week.”
