A traditional haberdashery shop in Ely is closing down after more than eight years in the city.
The Yarn Room, situated on the top floor of Interiors of Ely, on Chequer Lane, will shut on September 22.
Owner Barbera Curtis moved to the premises after closing her shop Curtis Yarns in High Street November last year.
Mrs Curtis says that big brand shops have impacted on her trade making it hard to survive as a small business in the city.
“This is very sad and I have a lot of loyal customers who have stood by me over the years,” she said.
“I cannot keep up with shops such as Wilko and supermarkets anymore.
“I will still keep in touch with everyone and find some time to concentrate on other hobbies now.”
Mrs Curtis had been based in the High Street for five years and three years before that in The Cloisters shopping centre.
