MRS Keating welcomed members to the meeting, and introduced our speaker, John Gall, who is deputy community leader for the charity, Emmaus Cambridge which was the first community to be established in the UK in 1990. It provides a place where homeless people live and work together. John is a 'companion' and has had personal experience of homelessness. He gave us an insight into the charity's work and ethos. Mrs McCullum gave the vote of thanks for the inspiring talk.

John judged the competition for a pretty shell - first prize was awarded to Mrs Woods and second prize to Mrs Sallis.

The church bazaar is on December 2.

The evening ended with a quiz on the British Isles. Difficult questions got members racking their brains, and Mrs R Higgs was the winner.
