AN Ely woman who has been "vile" to probation service staff has promised to stay away from the city's probation office for the next six months, unless she has an appointment.

Fifty-nine-year-old Audrey Gill, of High Street, admitted breaching her 24-month supervision order by acting in an unacceptable manner.

"There are people in the probation service trying to help you, this is not the way to behave towards public servants," she was told by presiding magistrate Sue Griffin, sitting at Ely courthouse on Thursday. "You must not turn up at the probation office and behave in an abusive way."

Gill told the court: "I have sent a letter of apology. I know I have been acting like an idiot.
