A WOMAN who hid heroin inside her body during a drugs search has been ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid community work.

Chandra Earwaker, 42, had produced £30-worth of the drug to police when told she would be subjected to an intimate search, Ely magistrates were told on Thursday.

"All her clothing was searched, and she was asked if she was concealing anything about her," said prosecutor Emma Dmitriev. "To avoid an intimate search she produced 0.6 grams of heroin wrapped in foil, inside a plastic bag."

Earwaker, of New Barns Road, Ely, had previously admitted possessing the Class A drug on February 9. She also admitted she was in breach of a conditional discharge, imposed last year for the possession of a knife.

Magistrates were told that Earwaker owed the court £1,794.44 in outstanding fines, costs, compensation and duty. After being told that she had paid £695 off the debt, they wiped nearly £1,500 off the account.
