TEENAGER Sade Clegg-Martin chased her partner out of a window with four kitchen knives during a violent row over a bus ticket.

When the 19-year-old heard David Walters throwing things around their living room she threatened to go outside with an iron bar.

And when Mr Walters locked the door to keep her indoors, she got a piece of wood from their bed, and threatened him.

"She held the wood over him while he was on the sofa," prosecutor Laura Mardell told Ely magistrates.

"He went upstairs, she followed him and assaulted him in the bedroom, punching him on the left side of the face four or five times. She then slapped him across the face, and when he tried to push her away, she responded by punching him again."

"Mr Walters called the police, and then went downstairs, where he climbed out of the kitchen window and she followed him with four kitchen knives.

"When he saw the knives he tried to detain her, and she kicked him on the knee."

Clegg-Martin, of Berry Close, Stretham, admitted possessing an offensive weapon and assaulting Mr Walters in Stretham on August 16.

When arrested, Clegg-Martin told officers she had given two knives to a male in a pub, and had hidden the other two. Only one has ever been found.

Mitigating, Adam Haselhurst said there was some provocation before the assault. The couple are still together, he added, and live on benefit.

"This came about over an argument over a bus ticket," he said. "What made things worse was the actions of my client's friends, who assaulted the complainant, and she was upset and thought he would want to end the relationship."

Sentencing was adjourned until September 18.
