Students and staff at Witchford Village College have written their very own song to raise money for the Ebola crisis.
Entitled ‘It’s Your Call’, the students are hoping to raise hundreds for Save the Children and the British Red Cross, who are both in West Africa helping to tackle the spread of the virus.
The song has a hip-hop style and the lyrics are based on a blog by a Red Cross nurse who is currently working in Sierra Leone, and Save the Children field reports.
And the pupils were given the chance to perform their song live on the airwaves on Friday when they visited BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.
The idea for the song was put forward by a class of nine Year 8 students with help from their music teacher, Charles Berthon.
By chance, Mr Berthon was involved in an Icelandic no.1 single in 1985, which was inspired by band aid and raised money for Africa at that time.
The pupils involved were Bonnie Scott, Anna Lewis, Isabelle Pilling, Jade Drever, Rachel Burling, Laura Burgess, Taia Agnew, Adam Everett and Amy Blyth.
The song is available for a donation of £1. To get hold of a copy, e-mail itsyourcall@witchfordvc.co.uk for further information.
