Witchford Village College has been awarded six fruit trees as part of the East of England Apples and Orchards Project.
Funded by Heritage Lottery, the scheme provides schools with their own heritage fruit orchard and the teaching materials to enable pupils and staff to get the most from their fruit trees.
Students and staff at the college were “delighted” to be given the four apple tress and two plum trees.
They have since spent time learning about how to care for them.
Key stage three students helped staff to plant the trees in the college grounds and Mr Godfrey, grounds officer, taught them where to plant them and how they can grow happily.
A spokesman said: “We are delighted with the new fruit trees as we will be able to use them for teaching opportunities.
“Hopefully students and staff will also be able to sample the fruits once matured and see them used in the catering department to make delicious healthy treats.
