Witchford Village College students came second in an archery contest which involved pupils from schools from across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The event was part of the School Games Summer Festival which act as the county finals for school sport.

Soham Village College provided sports leaders to support the netball event and Ely College provided sports leaders to hockey which saw 20 teams taking part.

Sports leaders from Witchford Village College supported the inclusive archery and their key stage three blue team who competed went on to secure second place.

The festival was organised by Living Sport, the county sports partnership, on behalf of the local organising committee for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

The aim of the games is to use competitive sport to create a positive and rewarding experience for all young people involved, including participants and young leaders who ably supported the events.

The event launched with an opening ceremony with 1,000 young people in attendance.

The school games are a sporting legacy from London 2012 which provides friendly but competitive sporting opportunities for schools in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

Covering a range of sports, age groups and abilities, the games are inclusive and open to all.
