A team of young footballers, who have played together for eight years, held a special celebration as they played their final match as a team.
The Witchford Colts under 16s have been together since they were eight, but with them all sitting GCSEs this summer, moving on to college and now being old enough to play in adult teams, they marked the occasion as the end of an era.
Parent Tracy Allgood said: “We paid tribute to our wonderful Witchford Colts U16 squad and their managers after they played their final match as a team, they’re too old to play as Colts next season.
“The team have been together for eight years. Their first match was in September 2010 with Robin Uttin and Paul Boam as managers.
“We celebrated with prosecco and cake and Robin and Paul were each given presents and souvenirs from the parents and players.
“With the leadership given by Robin and Paul the boys have developed life-long friendships, learnt to play football in the right spirit and turned from little boys into fine young men.
“The boys are now in their final year at secondary school and will be off to various sixth forms in September – hopefully joining new college teams and continuing to play football.”
