"Having the opportunity to give readings to audience members and meet those who attend afterwards is what I have been doing for many, many years and one that I will be doing for many more."
THE Ely Standard has another great ticket give-away for readers this week.
We have two pairs of tickets for Derek Acorah – one of the UK’s top spirit mediums – at The Brook in Soham and two pairs of tickets to hear author Clair Tomalin talk about her new book at Ely Cathedral.
Derek Acorah will appear at The Brook on October 14. He has carried out hours of spirit contact, one-to-one readings and has numerous television appearances live shows under his belt. “I’m delighted to be back on the road again with my autumn tour. Life this year has been hectic for me, both nationally and internationally, so it is great to be getting back to what I most enjoy - performing live in front of a live audience,” Derek told the Ely Standard.

CLAIRE Tomalin will talk about her new book Charles Dickens: A Life, on October 27 at Ely Cathedral. Charles Dickens was a phenomenon: a demonically hard-working journalist, the father of 10 children, a tireless walker and traveller, a supporter of liberal social causes, but most of all a great novelist – the creator of characters who live immortally in the English imagination such as the Artful Dodger, Mr Pickwick, Pip, David Copperfield, Little Nell, Lady Dedlock, and many more.
Claire Tomalin, winner of Whitbread Book of the Year for Samuel Pepys: The Unequalled Self, paints an unforgettable portrait of Dickens, capturing brilliantly the complex character of this great genius.
