WILBURTON High Street could remain closed until early this evening (Monday, January 31) after a tractor carrying a cargo of carrots crashed into a house.
A huge mess was created after the heavy goods vehicle smashed into the side of the historic property next to the village garage at 8.40am this morning, leaving bricks and carrots strewn across the carriageway.
Twenty Pence Road has also been shut after fears the building could collapse as a result of the impact.
The tractor and trailer were removed from the scene just before noon as a structural engineer from Cambridgeshire County Council came to inspect the house.
No one was inside the property at the time and the driver managed to climb out of the vehicle having suffered only minor injuries.
A police spokesperson said diversions are in place.
