A Wilburton café has been championed by Starbucks Community Café programme which supports dedicated local community spaces across Britain.

The K9 Café, in Twenty Pence Road, is part of the K9 Project - which offer a range of personal development programmes using ex-shelter dogs for disadvantaged, vulnerable and socially isolated people.

It acts as a hub for support services and ideas for new projects.

Customers are welcome to bring their dogs or enjoy the company of other people’s dogs, which helps reduce social isolation.

Starbucks Community Café programme supports dedicated local community spaces and is now supporting a further 16 not-for-profit cafés across the UK in addition to the four launched last year.

It ties in with Starbucks 20th Anniversary in the UK.

Clare Walker, communications director, Starbucks EMEA, said: “Since our earliest days we have recognised the importance of Starbucks stores’ role in the communities they serve, and our community café programme in the UK is a great way to celebrate this and collaborate with vital café spaces.”

The main focus of the K9 Cafe is to support those who are socially isolated, experience anxiety or depression, have other mental health problems, or maybe just like to come and meet other dog lovers.
