THE village of Wicken will stage its annual festival of arts, flowers and music over the August Bank Holiday weekend. The theme of the festival is 'the traveller' and there will be flower arrangements depicting this theme, displays of arts and crafts and music by local musicians. Other music will be provided by Eric Cowell of Wicken-based recording studio Brewhouse Records.

There will also be a children's art competition and a colouring competition for the under-sevens sponsored by the village's Tylers' butchers shop.

Home-made refreshments will be served all day, with visitors able to take home samples of local produce, including home-made cakes, plants, fruit, vegetables and honeycomb.

The arts and craft exhibition is being organised by celebrated local artist and historian Anthony Day and will include his own works and entries from popular local artists Terry Beard, Julie Beaumont, Shirley Covill, Ursula Galloway, Chris Gould, Suzi Herbert, Sue Murfitt and Jennifer Sargent.

Opening hours will be from noon till 5pm on Saturday, noon till 6pm on Sunday, followed by Family Songs of Praise at 6.30 pm, and 10am till 5pm on Monday.

Entry is free although donations for St Laurence's Church will be welcomed.
