STRETHAM WI held a successful open meeting in February. Visitors included spouses, several members of the new Little Thetford WI and several ex-members of Wicken's old WI. It was good to see such a cheerful crowd and they and our speaker Keith Butterworth, were given a warm welcome from Stretham's president Joy Smith.
The meeting opened with a rousing verse of Jerusalem, led by our musical member, Maire.
Business was swiftly dealt with, and then everyone settled down to Keith's account of a spectacular holiday he spent with his wife in North Borneo. The talk was illustrated with numerous slides of the glorious jungles, coast, rivers, people and various weird, wonderful and heart-breaking animals.
A sincere vote of thanks was given by Win Tunnah, refreshments were served and Ann Few did good business at the sales table. The evening ended with a grand raffle and a good time was had by all. The next meeting will be a meal at The Red Lion at 7pm on March 13, menus to be filled in and returned to Mrs Human.
