THE WI has had two festive meetings since the last report. At the December meeting in the Parish Rooms we were wonderfully entertained by a programme of humorous poetry and soliloquies, performed by Hilary Sage.
The January meeting was held in the cosy Old White Lion and it got off to a good start with mulled wine, mince pies and sausage rolls. After business, members divided into two teams and competed in a University Challenge style of quiz, with Mrs Adamson firing the questions and Mrs Few as time-keeper and scorer. The questions were a well balanced mix of very easy, rather difficult and extremely outrageous. Mrs Human's team were piped at the post by Mrs Smith's team and a happy evening closed with coffee and a grand raffle.
The next meeting will be in the Parish Rooms at 7.15pm on Tuesday, February 13, when the speaker will be Keith Butterworth who will give a talk on Borneo. The meeting will be open to husbands, friends and anyone who would like an enjoyable evening away from the television. Stretham would especially like to welcome ex-WI members from Wilburton and Wicken, who may be missing the friendly WI scene. There will be a bring-and-buy table.
