A white Stork roosted on the roof of a house in Stretham - attracting attention from the community.

The inquisitive looking bird perched on the rooftop of the house in Top Street overnight Monday and remained until yesterday afternoon.

Residents say it attracted a few visiting birdwatchers too.

Paul Bolton said: “It’s likely the bird is from a free flying re-introduction scheme as it was ringed, however it is rare to find them so approachable, perched on roof tops in this country.”

Another resident, who didn’t wish to be named, said: “It was sitting there causing quite a stir as it was there grooming itself. It was interesting to watch.”

Dozens of people commented on social media about the visitor too, eventually guessing that he flew off in the direction of Wilburton.
