IT'S bad luck for the groom to see the bride before the wedding - but there's nothing to say he can't be the bride.
Littleport Co-op store supervisors Katie Allum, 23, and Garry Hunt, 27, were married on Saturday and had a fancy dress rehearsal for their big day during a wedding theme week at the store to raise money for the Children's Society.
The pair, who met at the store which they have both worked at since leaving school, swapped matrimonial roles for a mock wedding day last Wednesday.
Katie's mother, Angela Allum, a duty manager at the store, swapped her mother-of-the-bride role to become the best man.
She said: "While gorgeous Garry got most of the attention in his stunning white dress and veil, 'groom' Katie grabbed the limelight back when she arrived at Littleport Methodist Church for the real event."
Starry-eyed staff transformed the store into a romantic venue for the week before the wedding and celebrated with a hen and stag party, a getting-ready day with hair pins and rollers, a mock wedding and a honeymoon day with holiday outfits.
Customers joined in the prenuptial parties, which featured stalls, competitions, a tombola, a prize draw and Fairtrade tea and coffee.
Store manager Matt Thorogood said: "Our in-store celebrations have made the whole week really special for Katie and Garry while raising money for a really worthwhile cause. We would like to thank all the generous customers who donated money."
The total amount raised was £858.
