JUNE has seen freak weather all over England and Wales, and there have even been four deaths in Yorkshire in recent days.

Flood and severe weather warnings are in force for many parts of the countries with torrential rain and gales forecast.

ADAM LAZZARI braved the elements and went out into Ely on Monday - reported to be the wettest June day in UK history - to see how the weather has affected people.

Linda Powell, from Haddenham.

"It's actually, for the most part, been quite a lovely day here today, despite the forecasts. I've seen on the news about people dying in the floods and we're really lucky that we've not had it so bad around here."

Alistair Page, 42, from Haddenham.

"I'm a farmer and I sell irrigation pumps so you would expect the rain to have a negative effect on business, but, amazingly, I've been kept really busy. I would usually expect to sell between 25 and 27 irrigators and I've had orders for 36 this year."

Cliff Richards, 74, from Cottenham.

"I've had bronchitis since I was nine but the weather has never affected me in a big way. I don't look out for the forecasts.

"I have friends and relatives abroad and they are going through the same thing at the moment.

"We are very lucky that the weather here has not been as serious as it has been in other parts of the country."

Shirley GoWling, 53, from Willingham.

"The weather doesn't really affect me but obviously it's nicer when the sun's out. But I do always look out for the forecasts to see what it will be like."

Betty Cox, 73, from Willingham.

"I heard it was supposed to be the wettest day of the year here today but it's been a beautiful day. That said, I'm going to Lincolnshire in a couple of weeks and it's been dreadful there, so I'm not really looking forward to that."

Anne Ovens, 47, from Ely.

"It really makes me feel miserable when it's wet and cold and I think everyone is in a better mood when the sun is shining.

"I'm a school teacher and when it rains it can cause a bit of chaos. The children can't go outside and it really affects their morale and concentration levels if they can't go out side to run off some steam.
