AQUAFEST organisers estimate about £1,400 was raised for charity at this year's event, significantly lower than in previous years.

The money was raised through raffle ticket sales, which also cover costs, with everything organised by the Rotary Club of Ely and the Rotary Club of Ely Hereward.

Eric Grant, from the Rotary Club of Ely, said: "The threat of bad weather played a big part on the day. It turned out to be bright and dry but very windy, which somewhat added to the fun on the river, but meant that turnout was a bit down.

"We usually raise about £2,000 for various charities so it's a little bit disappointing but we primarily organise the event for the enjoyment of the people of Ely and to this end it was spectacularly successful."

The 29th Aquafest was held at Lavender's Place and Jubilee Gardens on July 1. Organisers are still deciding on which charities should receive the money.
