POLICE have issued a warning to parents after a number of children in Littleport have taken to diving off a bridges.
With the six-weeks holiday now underway, and the temperature soaring, youngsters in the village have sought to cool off by jumping from a bridge at Sandhill, near the rail crossing, into the River Great Ouse.
The antics of the children have caused concern among people living nearby however, and police are now warning parents to keep a closer eye on their children.
In a recent message to residents, PCSO Jonathan Hall said: “If you should be a parent please give words of advice about the dangers of swimming in rivers. There is always the dangers of the boat traffic as well.”
PCSO Hall added that officers had started taking names and address of young people caught trespassing and using bad language around the river and in earshot of residents and visitors to nearby public house, The Swan.
