Want to stand in the upcoming election? Be sure to get your nomination in before deadline

Nominations are open for people who want to stand for election for East Cambridgeshire District Council in the upcoming election.

And nominations are also open for people who want to stand for their village or parish council, with election day due to take place on Thursday, May 7.

All 39 seats for the district council and 323 seats for parish councils across East Cambridgeshire are up for election and the deadline for nominations to be submitted is 4pm on Thursday, April 9.

John Hill, chief executive at East Cambridgeshire District Council, said: “Becoming a district councillor can be a demanding but very rewarding role. You have the opportunity to represent your community and parish to influence some of the critical decisions which need to be made on East Cambridgeshire’s future.”

“The Election team will be available to receive and validate nomination papers between 10am and 4pm at the council offices until the closing date on April 9.”

Nomination papers are available from the council offices, in Ely, or can be downloaded from www.eastcambs.gov.uk. A guidance note outlining the nomination paper is also available on-line.
