WALTER Sennitt, of New Close Road, Little Thetford died on January 25 at Queen's Court, Bottisham, he was aged 89.

Wally was born in Stuntney in 1917. During the Second World War he served in the Army stores from 1939-1945 at Woolwich Arsenal, Aldershot, Donnington and Telford in Shropshire. Later he worked as a stoker at the former RAF Hospital in Ely.

He married Lorna on April 2,1960, they were married for 46 years.

Wally was a keen football supporter of Arsenal FC and played for Stuntney FC and later Ely City FC until he broke his leg.

He also liked watching boxing and snooker on television and was a keen gardener until his mid-eighties. For his holidays, he enjoyed trips to the seaside and cruises with his wife. Wally enjoyed a pint, a cigarette and a game of dominoes at his favourite pub, The High Flyer in Ely.

He is survived by his son Brian Sennitt and grandson Paul.

The funeral took place on January 29, at Little Thetford Chapel, led by Peter Cockerton.
