Walkers are gearing up to trek the length of the Ely southern bypass this Sunday in aid of charity.

The Walk the Bridge event by the Ely branch of Macmillan Cancer Support will see dozens take to the highway to preview the major project before it officially opens.

The bypass will ease congestion in and around Ely by providing a new link between Stuntney Causeway and Angel Drove.

Organisers have asked if possible, if people living the Ely side of the railway crossing to make their own way, as the road after the railway crossing will be stewarded.

If the weather remains dry, there will be parking on King’s Ely playing field Amherst.

There will be shuttle buses from there to Stuntney Causeway.

These buses and drivers are being provided by King’s.

If it is a wet day then parking will be at King’s school itself, please watch for the direction of the car parking signs.

The road will be open to walk any time between 9 and 12 noon.

No need to register, just come and see Ely from a different angle.

For more information call Ava Paice on 01638 721526.
