The voting for Soham’s Town Person of the Year competition has now opened.

Organiser Sarah Newman said: “Anyone who you think has contributed to the Soham community is eligable.

“For example, you may wish to nominate your road safety crossing person, or a teacher who works in Soham who has really helped with your learning, or an unsung hero who turns out in all weathers to run the football, cubs, guides.

“The form requires an explaination of why you think this person should win.

“We would like to receive nominations through our Facebook page: Soham Carnival. There are also several voting boxes across the town, where the public can complete a voting slip and place it in the box.”

Voting closes on March 31. Votes cast after this date on Facebook will not be counted.

The winner is the person with the most nominations. They will receive the award on the day of Soham Carnival & Heavy Horse Show, which takes place on May 29 at the Recreation Ground, Fountain Lane, Soham.
