Dozens of black bags were filled with rubbish as hardy volunteers braved the wind and rain to give Ely a spring clean, on Sunday.
More than 20 people turned out at the City of Ely Council’s new home, in the old magistrates’ court, to collect a high visibility jacket and a litter picker ready for a morning’s cleaning.
The two-hour clean-up focussed on the city centre and the parks and open spaces and was led by the mayor of Ely, Councillor Lis Every, along with the East Cambridgeshire Community Safety Partnership.
To reward their efforts, drinks and snacks were handed out to volunteers.
